Fellow Aviators,

Good airmanship is perhaps the most important pilot quality and its most important component is common sense. It involves careful pre-flight inspection of the aircraft, verifying that any required maintence has been completed, ensuring the brakes are on and the area near the propeller is clear prior to starting the engine, correct procedures and checks, and well-placed confidence in yourself and your ability - confidence that you can complete the required flight without undue worries.

'Confidence' is not 'over-confidence', which has given many pilots (and their passenges) grey hairs. Having the confidence in yourself to make correct decisions firmly, as is necessary throughout the course of every flight, is a skill you should develop.

Understanding this theory side of aviation is a necessary preparation - and look at professional pilots - they never STOP studying and reading.

'Flying the aeroplane' should always be your primary concern. Navigation calculations, radio work, operating the engine within the defined limitations, handling engine problems - all these are secondary to maintaining the aeroplane on a safe flightpath. (ie. Fly the damn plane! Don't let it fly you, damn it!)

1. Rating Examinations is next Friday (8/9). CONFIRMED.

2. Preetwant wants us to complete our Rating In-House latest this Saturday(2/9) so that we can register for the exam. BUT, most of us are going for the open house, so which means we must clear everything by tomorrow(1/9) unless you don't mind skipping the open house.

Zen, Wan WJ and myself are going down tomorrow second wave to clear everything. Sharma and Eugene please make the necessary arrangements. JS, you can clear it all tomorrow after your flight.

3. I suggest we all meet 0930hrs at Eunos MRT station this coming Saturday and make our way for the open house. Objections? If not, see u all on then.

Aren't we all tired of this Chua BS talk? I think its about time Echobang shuttup about Chua BS and move on already. I mean once or twice is ok, but honestly Echobang, we don't care as much as you think we do. Okay he's a shit instructor, big fucking deal. Every other student managed to handle it and get through PPL. But then again, not every student crashed into a van. So i guess you are "special" eh? It's been so long since i had my hands on the control and i was dying to fly! Groundschool was talking cock the whole time and they sky turned damn dark with clouds moving in above us.. I thought there goes another sortie cancelled like the previous three due crosswinds and HARNESS JAMMED.. LOL!!! But ya, managed to take off and the first circuit abit nervous after not flying for so long... Cleared for solo and damn.. my landings are like damn nice today... Wind 090 degrees at 2kts... Great flight.. and after so long of hard work, finally a grade 6!!! I guess it is due to those videos of landings that i've watched.. haha.. esp the one with the nose up and down on landing roll..

wah...finaly a break through...i've been getting 4 fer all circuits, but today(13-06-06) siva gave me a 5.wah, to be honest, i tink its the flight simulator that helps. serious,like turning more accurate and approach and landing much nicer....so it was the 23th(after being hand cuffed to 22 due to DNCOs). Ofcourse, did my solo...oh yah...btw i flew OO...flying wise it was a beauty but the coms a bit to soft...so like on coms 2...so like i hear siva murmuring on coms two...so den i try to increase the vol...den when i switch back to coms 1...fcuk...the RT like blast in to my ears...so anyways...the solo was fun but visibility was like shit...but it was good over all...damn, i also found out that my chances of getting in to the airforce is slim..u noe why...my fucking tigh bone too long...fuck then cannot fit in side the cockpit...damn.anyways..see ya'l around...chaoz!

i was talking to someone about SCRAMJETs the other day, can't remember who, but i found out what they are.Scramjet stands for Supersonic Combustion Ramjet. which brings us to ramjets. a ramjet is an engine, that doesnt requireturbines to suck in air to mix with the fuel vapours. it just opens its vents and lets air flow in, catch is, it only works with air travellingat 1000kmph and more. it is used exclusively(almost) in missles, like the bloodhound. the bloodhound is a surface to air missle thathas 4 rockets, which will propell it to ramjet activation speed, and the ramjet will activate, bringing the missile further, or higher and faster to intercept a target. a scramjet is almost exactly like a ramjet, except it'll only work with air travelling at 1 mach or more. correct me if i'm wrong guys. read it from wikipedia and summarized it. -echobang

btw the only plane using the scramjet engine currently is the SR-71 blackbird, which hit speeds of up to mach 3.6

guys, i flew glide yesterday, and all i can say is, damn, its fun. haha. instructor will show u one, u do 2, then go solo already. so to wan wj, yeah i managed to fly yst. only the 3rd wave ppl got cancelled. 4th wave flew. to eugene, congrats on the timex, i want one also. to jerome, take what a liew says seriously, but dont worry about it. to sharma and zen, i slept early last night, so no replies on msn yst. sorry. guys so lets meet up for 1st wave ground school. then at 1100hrs, yfc's screening some blue angels show in the theaterette. so we'll stop and go catch that. all going except jerome i think.. ok then. see u people. i'll be going down first wave. -echobang

THE recently-announced multi-million dollar revamp of Seletar Airbase may mean 10,000 more jobs by 2018, but for surrounding residents it also means the loss of a place they call home by 2008.
.Even the popular Seletar Base Golf Club may eventually have to make way while the fate of Singapore Youth Flying Club (SYFC) hangs in the balance.
.Just a day before the Government announced a $60-million project to turn the Seletar Airport area into a 140ha aerospace park, tenants of the 305 colonial, black-and-white bungalows in the Seletar Estate received notice of the pending plans.
.Last Friday, they were informed that all tenants would have to move by end-2008.
.Most residents were upset both by the prospect of having to leave their rustic homes and the uncertainty as to what would happen to the area they have sunk roots in.
.Said Malaysian-born researcher Ooi Kee Beng, a tenant for the past seven months: "Information has been very sparse. They don't give you information about what they are doing."
.There are four agencies currently involved in the transition of the former military airbase: The Singapore Land Authority (SLA), since the houses are on state land, estate managing agent United Premas, aerospace park planner JTC Corporation and the Economic Development Board as industry developer.
.United Premas has set up a hotline for tenants' feedback and queries, which are mainly on lease periods and extensions.
.According to the SLA, the good news is that none of the tenants will be evicted before their tenancy ends. The last expiry date is on the deadline itself: Dec 31, 2008.
."This is a rented place, anything can happen," said Mrs Toh Fui Yan, a 34-year-old homemaker who stays in a terrace house.
.Rental of the units — which vary from one to two-storey bungalows to two-storey terrace houses — range from $1,300 to $3,500 per month for a lease of typically two years.
.At a press conference announcing the Seletar Aerospace Park, JTC Corporation chief executive Chong Lit Cheong had said it will not "bring bulldozers in and flatten the land", adding that the team will consider how to retain the charm and heritage of the area.
.Together with the Urban Redevelopment Authority, JTC will study the merits of retaining some of the pre-World War II bungalows for other uses. Some possibilities include hostels and aviation training centres.
.Details will be available only at the year-end, when the aerospace park masterplan is finalised, said the authorities.
.The aerospace park is expected to add $3.3 billion annually to the economy by 2018.
."What will happen to the surrounding shops and golf course?" asked one resident.

.Almost 6,000 rounds of golf are played at the popular course every month.
.The fate of the SYFC — the main tenant at the Seletar Airbase — hangs in the balance too.
.Currently the SYFC makes up around 60 per cent of flights along the Seletar runway, or 5,000 flight hours a year.

THE recently-announced multi-million dollar revamp of Seletar Airbase may mean 10,000 more jobs by 2018, but for surrounding residents it also means the loss of a place they call home by 2008.
.Even the popular Seletar Base Golf Club may eventually have to make way while the fate of Singapore Youth Flying Club (SYFC) hangs in the balance.
.Just a day before the Government announced a $60-million project to turn the Seletar Airport area into a 140ha aerospace park, tenants of the 305 colonial, black-and-white bungalows in the Seletar Estate received notice of the pending plans.
.Last Friday, they were informed that all tenants would have to move by end-2008.
.Most residents were upset both by the prospect of having to leave their rustic homes and the uncertainty as to what would happen to the area they have sunk roots in.
.Said Malaysian-born researcher Ooi Kee Beng, a tenant for the past seven months: "Information has been very sparse. They don't give you information about what they are doing."
.There are four agencies currently involved in the transition of the former military airbase: The Singapore Land Authority (SLA), since the houses are on state land, estate managing agent United Premas, aerospace park planner JTC Corporation and the Economic Development Board as industry developer.
.United Premas has set up a hotline for tenants' feedback and queries, which are mainly on lease periods and extensions.
.According to the SLA, the good news is that none of the tenants will be evicted before their tenancy ends. The last expiry date is on the deadline itself: Dec 31, 2008.
."This is a rented place, anything can happen," said Mrs Toh Fui Yan, a 34-year-old homemaker who stays in a terrace house.
.Rental of the units — which vary from one to two-storey bungalows to two-storey terrace houses — range from $1,300 to $3,500 per month for a lease of typically two years.
.At a press conference announcing the Seletar Aerospace Park, JTC Corporation chief executive Chong Lit Cheong had said it will not "bring bulldozers in and flatten the land", adding that the team will consider how to retain the charm and heritage of the area.
.Together with the Urban Redevelopment Authority, JTC will study the merits of retaining some of the pre-World War II bungalows for other uses. Some possibilities include hostels and aviation training centres.
.Details will be available only at the year-end, when the aerospace park masterplan is finalised, said the authorities.
.The aerospace park is expected to add $3.3 billion annually to the economy by 2018.
."What will happen to the surrounding shops and golf course?" asked one resident.
.According to a source in the Seletar Base Golf Club, it is only a matter of time before the 20ha nine-hole public golf course will have to make way for the aerospace industry.

First, my whole family went overseas then left that fcked up maid at hm with me. ok so i have a project due tomorrow. 4 people involved. 3 of us supposed to do the project itself, we'll each do a certain portion part, and send it to the 4th, who'll just have to print it. apparently i'm the group leader, cause the other 3 are twits. ok first we have 23 year old idiot from ite. then a 22 year old idot from ite, who retained, mind you, in primary 6, and a third idiot, luckily not from ite, but is still retarded none the less. ok so i did my part, and sent it to the 22 year old idiot, her names jessie ( FUCK SHE JUST FUCKING NUDGED ME! NAH BEH! ). back to jessie. you know what that bitch did? i sent her an excel file, pasted in microsoft word. so obviously, its in table form. she tells me she edited it (who the fuck does she think she is?! editing my work) and sends it back. so fine, i open it, and guess what i see. fucking nothing. it looks exactly the same. so i ask her on msn " what did u edit" and that bitch says " i added a table line" excuse me, but what the fuck is a table line? a number of lines, put together, forms a god damn table! so what the fuck is a table line?!! so i say " what line" and that bitch says " there. that one. " like i can fucking see what she's pointing at. so already quite pissed off, i go " dont do anything. just print what i sent you, dont edit anything." damn her. ok. so she tells me she's only recieved my part. and that idiot 2 and idiot 3 has not sent her theirs. so i call idiot 2, and he says " oh, i'm not at home." what the fuck not at home sia. project due tomorrow not at home. so i tell him " get home and send her asap". he just got home, and says to me online " er , what am i supposed to do ah" fucking dont even know what to do, how to send. so i tell him, and i call idiot number 3. this guy is the champion. fucking sleeping! never answer. i dont know how i'm gonna do well for this project la. then as i'm typing this, idiot just messaged me online saying " hey, thats jessies job wad" with regard to what i told him he has to do, which mind you, he agreed to like, 2 days ago. and now he's pushing it around. i go " she's only supposed to do one thing. PRINT!" so now he's probably sulking and doing it, cursing my whole family tree. idiot 3's still m.i.a.

alright guys. i just got back from sortie 24. yeah. good day today. i heard tower fucking some china airlines cause his rt was like shit. in the end tower told the china guys to telephone them instead of using the radio. imagine " china air say your endurance" the answer should have been in hours, but the reply was " 6400kg of fuel." haha. then tower said " in hours and mins please" then they started pleading with the tower to take it as 6400kg and convert themselves. lol.
anyway..i got a 5 from chua. surprise surprise man. and i heard that nazmi had some problems when he last flew. sunday i think? the instructors had a meeting this morning b4 flights and i heard it was because a student landed and did a high speed turnoff, thus going off the rwy. then i heard rumours that it was nazmi. hmmm..
oh well. fly safe guys. runway 21's the way to go for now.

Alright.. Let's concentrate more on groundschool now and flights at the back of our head for the time being.

The issue now is, preetwant's pretty pissed off with our course and pls do away with his callsign of pit-bull in case other PPL students came across our blog.. At that time, we'll all be eating BULLSHIT!! Guys, if u can go down to attend groundschool, pls do so at ur own pace and dun wait till all available. He labelled us as "not interested" so we gotta do something abt it ya..

Exam's coming. Do clear ur AIR LAW in house by this week bcoz u gotta take HPL too.
Apparently, he gave only 1 option, which is, take both papers on 9th June.
But bcoz i cleared my air law paper today, he gave me the option of taking air law next week so whether or not u guys could take next week, depends on ur score so pls study and see when u clear ur in house. Pls ask him too, bcoz i'm assuming on my part too. For me, i would take airlaw next week and HPL on 9th June. My school's exam not anytime soon, but the thing is projects are due soon.. I got no choice but to clear my air law papers and not that i went w/o informing u guys. My apologises.

Pls do not make so much noise in the club when we're there.. gotta tone down now and try to bring our profile lower. Bcoz we're in a big grp, we get spotted easily so he label us as potential trouble babes!

Okay. First thing first. I'm gonna give p.want a call-sign. At first i thought 'Pit' would sound gd for him. But after hearing from Fan-stop, i guess its only fair i upgrade it to 'Pit-bull'.. hahaa.. Any objections?

Okay guys. Apparently Fan-stop called a few of us to infrom us that Pit-bull is damn unhappy with us. He feels we ain't serious about this whole thing, we're taking it too lightly and all.

Fan-storm already did his in-house for Air-Law and he'll most probably be taking the exam next week since Pit-bull asked him if he wants to.

Here's the plan, its either you take the Air-Law exam next week OR you will have to take the Air-Law AND HPL exam on 9th June. (Fan-stop, correct me if i'm wrong) I doubt i'll go for the later cos i believe we poly students will be having our exams at that time. Having said that I dunno if its a good risk to wack the exam paper next week either. Pit-bull will come after balls if you dont do well.

Oh wells. So this is just to update you guys on our current situation in the club. Haha. Sounds critical eh? I'll be going down for ground school tomorrow last wave and ALL the waves on Saturday. (Eh, echo and loti, come Wings Café and eat lah.. Haha) Aim to complete the in-house this week.
